Applying to Study

These are the general guidelines and information that is meant to be followed in Estonia. If you are interested in ERASMUS exchange opportunities, then you can write to our school, and we'll make sure it gets to the right person. Full time studies typically take place in Estonian, however, we have recently accepted students from Ukraine, and have special programs to help them in preparing for further studies in Estonia. Therefore do reach out to us if you are interested in our vocations, and we can discuss what options we may or may not have on offer.

The school adress is Looduse tee 2 Vana-Võidu. For more information, call 4351020 or email kool@vikk.ee. If using English, email is probably best.

If applying in person:

  • Identity document (ID card, passport)
  • documents to prove level of education or what is required for the speciality
  • klassitunnistus (class certificate)
  • any other documents required for enrollment.

Documents needed to enrol at school:

  • an identity document (ID card, passport);
  • a written application submitted at the web site or at the school (a submitted application will provide information on the date and venue of the interview or test);
  • a diploma with a transcript of marks/grades;
  • class certificate (if enrolled in a VET course);
  • for non-stationary / part time studies a letter of motivation. Topics are here: motivatsioonikiri (unless their is an interview instead).
  • Entry to further training at level 5 is subject to the possession of at least a level 4 or 5 qualification or equivalent competences and secondary education.
  • You should bring a CV, a letter of support from your employer, a letter of recommendation or a letter of guarantee of a traineeship. Detailed links in Estonian:

In addition to the above, minors under 18 years of age must also provide the following information:

  • The written consent of a parent or guardian to study, details in Estonian: kirjaliku nõusoleku õppima asumiseks;
  • Health card from previous school (to be returned);
  • Rehabilitation plan for a student with special needs (if the plan provides for activities or notifications to the school).

Study conditions:

  • About half of the time spent in school-based learning is spent in practical training in the school's laboratories and apprenticeships;
  • In work-based learning, or apprenticeships, two thirds of the learning time is practical and takes place in the company;
  • In non-stationary learning, independent work accounts for more than half of the learning time;
  • School holidays are in winter, spring and summer (see: akadeemilisest kalendrist);
  • The best learners participate in the Estonian Youth Vocational Championships "Noormeister", where the winner will have the opportunity to represent Estonia in international competitions (if the speciality is on the competition schedule) EuroSkills and WorldSkills;
  • Hobby groups offer the opportunity to do your favourite sports after school (car racing, robotics, sports, band, etc.);
  • Sports are well developed at the school, and have their own sports hall. There is a choice of ball games, athletics, wrestling, weightlifting and a number of team games: basketball, volleyball, football, table hockey, etc;
  • VIKK Driving School offers the opportunity to acquire driving skills at a discounted price (-10%);
  • For students who study beyond the prescribed period of study, tuition fees may be set according to the specialisation (depending on the specialisation, 1 credit point or course 35 to 80 €).
  • Building services engineers, car mechanics, car mechanics and car technicians can receive free of charge category B driving instruction during the third course of the curriculum.
